Energy Democracy: Powering Nigeria’s Future Together

Energy is more than electricity; it is the foundation of development, opportunity, and dignity. Yet millions of Nigerians still lack access to affordable, reliable, and clean energy, limiting education, healthcare, businesses, and economic growth.
Energy Democracy is the belief that everyone should have fair access to sustainable energy and a voice in how it is produced, distributed, and governed. It is about putting people at the centre of energy decisions, expanding renewable energy solutions, and ensuring that no community is left behind in Nigeria’s energy transition.
The Energy Democracy Campaign, led by the Kadosh Initiative for Justice and Environmental Development (KIJED), is a nationwide call to action to inspire awareness, dialogue, and collective action for a more equitable energy future. We invite citizens, government institutions, civil society, development partners, the private sector, and the media to join this movement by sharing our campaign messages, advocating for clean and affordable energy, and supporting policies that empower communities. Together, we can build a Nigeria where energy is a right, not a privilege, and where every home, school, health facility, and business has the power to thrive.
