Who We Are
Our Journey
K
adosh Initiative for Justice and Environmental Development is a women and youth-centered Organization founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization to cultivate a world where justice and environmental sustainability intertwine seamlessly, fostering equitable opportunities and harmony for all.
The organization was established as Blue Beacon Initiative Africa (BBIA) and was registered with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in 2005. It was later incorporated on August 7th 2018. BBIA has since been involved in promoting environmental justice, climate change adaptation, access to information, sustainable land use, human rights and the protection of the rights of indigenous people, women, children and persons with disabilities.
In January 2023, Blue Beacon Initiative Africa secured a takeover of the defunct Action for Good Governance, Environmental Rights and Security (AGGERS) a human rights organization spread across Nigeria, due to this merger and the need for program and structural expansion, the organization’s Board of Trustees was reconstituted and was re-incorporated as Kadosh Initiative for Justice and Environmental Development (KIJED). this further led to the review of our strategic plan and the adoption a new strategic plan for 2024-2030. Our programs touch on areas such as climate change, human rights and governance, gender inclusion and mainstreaming, policy advocacy, Human Rights, Governance and humanitarian assistance.
In total, KIJED employs a dedicated team of 42 young Nigerians, which includes 8 permanent staff members and 34 part-time employees. As a prominent organization advocating for gender equity, we strive to close the gender gap, recognizing the pivotal role of women in our initiatives. Among our staff, 24 are female and 18 are male, with a significant majority (95%) aged between 22 and 35 years, while only 5% are within the 36 to 40 age range.

Sustainable Environment
At Kadosh Initiative for Justice and Environmental Development (KIJED), we believe that a healthy environment is a cornerstone of social justice and human development. Our flagship Environmental Project is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices, restoring ecosystems, and empowering communities to protect their natural resources. Through innovative initiatives, we aim to mitigate the devastating impacts of climate change, deforestation, and pollution on vulnerable populations. By integrating education, advocacy, and action, we are building a resilient future where both people and the planet can thrive.
Our work is rooted in collaboration and community-driven solutions. From organizing tree-planting campaigns to conducting environmental awareness workshops, we actively engage local stakeholders to foster a culture of responsibility and sustainability. We focus on equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to adopt Eco-friendly practices while advocating for policies that prioritize environmental protection. Whether it’s supporting coastal communities affected by erosion or urban areas grappling with waste management challenges, our efforts aim to create lasting change.
Despite our progress, there is much more to be done. The scale and urgency of the environmental crisis demand collective effort and increased resources. We need your support to expand our reach, implement larger-scale projects, and amplify our impact. Every contribution, whether financial, material, or in-kind, brings us closer to achieving our vision of a just and sustainable world. Your partnership can help us combat deforestation, protect biodiversity, and reduce the environmental inequalities that threaten marginalized communities.
We invite you to join us in this crucial mission. Together, we can turn the tide against environmental degradation and secure a brighter future for generations to come. we recognize that every child deserves a chance to dream, grow, and thrive. The Street to Star Project is our flagship initiative focused on providing critical support and empowerment opportunities for vulnerable children, particularly those living on the streets. This project is designed to address the systemic challenges that leave children vulnerable to poverty, abuse, and neglect by offering them pathways to education, skill acquisition, and emotional well-being. Our ultimate goal is to transform the lives of these children, turning their struggles into success stories.
Through the Street to Star Project, we create safe spaces for children to learn, heal, and grow. Our program includes access to quality education, mentorship, and vocational training tailored to the interests and abilities of each child. We also prioritize their mental and physical health, providing counseling services and basic healthcare. By addressing their immediate needs and equipping them with skills for long-term independence, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Every child in our program is supported to rediscover their potential and take confident steps toward a brighter future.
Despite the life-changing impact of the Street to Star Project, the demand for our services far exceeds our current resources. We need your support to reach more children, improve our facilities, and expand our programs. Your contributions can help us provide school supplies, meals, and safe shelters, or sponsor training sessions that equip these children with marketable skills. Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind and that each one has the opportunity to become a star in their own right.
We invite you to partner with us in this transformative journey. By donating, volunteering, or spreading the word about the Street to Star Project, you can make a lasting impact in the lives of countless children. Let’s give these young stars the chance to shine—because every child deserves a future filled with hope, dignity, and opportunities. Join us today and be part of this life-changing mission!
